Clients come to me with all kinds of scenarios. From needing a Coming Soon page, to robust e-commerce platforms, businesses come in all different shapes and sizes. I specialize in building websites from scratch. This starts with a thorough review of any existing properties, as well as your competitive landscape in the market place. We align our strategic mission for your new site, establish the design parameters, and together design and build a website that suits your growing business.
You already know that there are “free” and do-it-yourself website building platforms out there, and sometimes this is all you need. I ‘m familiar with many different platforms, like Shopify and Squarespace, and while these are great products for some, it’s not a one size fits all offering. Each platform has particular quirks or limitations.
So in situations where a website building service doesn’t work, this is when you’ll need a custom solution that truly reflects your brand’s vision, goals and customer experience.
It’s natural to wonder how much a website costs. This is key to your decision making, my proposed solutions, and the plan of action that we create. My answer to “How much does a website costs,” is, “It depends – on a lot of things.”
Here are a few topics that will drive your website decision making process:
- What is your budget?
- What are the goals of the site?
- What do you need your customers and site visitors to accomplish?
- How will you define success?
- How often does the website need to be updated?
- Do we have support staff that can help keep the website current?
- What are our plans for growth in the next 2 years?
- What information does my website need to provide?
- Can I find a couple example websites that I think are similar to my needs?
These are great things to think through as you’re considering who you might be working with.
Based on your answers, I present options for how we best tackle your project. Sometimes I recommend Squarespace as a great, cost effective way to get a brochure-style website up on a leaner budget. Most times, I look to present you with custom designed solutions built on WordPress. I like WordPress because it’s an open platform with a robust developer community. It’s a platform that can grow with your business, and is easy to update and manage.
From a design standpoint this is fun for me; creating something new is in my DNA. I work to seamlessly reflect your brand’s experience online. From functionality and visual design, to meeting your business’ sales or marketing goals, we work together to build the best experience for you.
Generally speaking, websites range from $1,500 – $25,000 – it can even cost more if you are building something more robust.
As you’re looking for a website designer, also make sure to choose someone that “get’s” you and your business. Building a website can take anywhere from 3 weeks to *forever* – meaning, your website is a living entity that will be changing throughout your business lifecycle. Also, make sure to check out previous work, have a conversation, and bring some initial research to the table, it makes the process that much smoother, and sets the tone for the project’s lifecycle.
